Andrew chuckled. "You could say that. That and not really appreciating the looks I was getting from the extended family...." he said with a sigh. It was bad enough to have to have to sit on the sidelines while his brothers and cousins all went for a flight on their brooms and played the game that he loved so much. Then to see the looks of pity and disappointment from several other family members. "There are some members who think that I was just not paying attention or too weak since I let this happen. Made it just easier to not be there..." he said, an edge to his voice.

With a clatter her cane hit the ground as she pivoted to stand in front of him. Placing her hands on the arm rests of his chair she stopped him and through her darkening eyes she could make out the brown of his eyes. SHe stared him down firmly as she spoke "you are not weak." her voice was passionate almost loving "you were dealt a heavy hand but you will show them that legs or no legs you can make all the difference screw there piteous looks, you are alive because you are strong you are here right now because you fought for it. They are not nearly as strong as you are and couldn't put up such a fight. You alone hold the power to live a fullfilling life doing whatever you want, they don't hold the power at all, if they think you were weak to end up in this chair then they are the ones who are weak themselves. not you andrew"

Andrew looked quickly as he heard the clattering of Lyra's cane on the ground, and he came to a stop as she put her hands on the rests of his chair. He looked into her face, and through the fogginess of her eyes, he could see the blue in them. As she spoke to him, her words hit home for him, just as they had in the Hospital Wing. He had never heard anyone speak to him this way about what happened, never heard anyone tell him that his family was in the wrong. Then again, he had really never told anyone about what home was like since the accident. As her speak came to a close, he didn't even think. Andrew moved forward and kissed her...

His lips touched hers so suddenly, her heart felt like it threatened to stop and heat wrose to her cheeks. Her eyes fluttered shut as her shock ebbed away and she pressed into the kiss softly but firmly before pulling away blinking rapidly.

He felt her lean into his kiss and then pull away. When he opened his eyes he saw her blinking quickly. He swallowed and wet his lips. "Sorry," he said softly, dropping his brown eyes from her. Andrew wasn't sure what she was going to make of that move on his part.

She dropped her eyes and shuffled her feet nervously "i.i..no i'm sorry..th..that was my fff..first kiss...." she wrapped her arms around her torso suddenly extremely self conscious and scared.

Andrew was stunned. "Your first..... Really?" he said leaning forward, and resting his hands on her arms. "It's ok, Lyra. Are you ok?" Andrew asked suddenly nervous that he had pushed her too far too soon.

Andrew smiled gently at her. "No need to be embarrassed. I bet you know more than you think..." he said as he slipped a hand into hers and slowly pulled her to him. Gently, he cupped her jaw, stroking her cheek with his thumb. Again, Andrew kissed her very gently.

Her heart began to pound in her chest and she felt his soft touch on her face, as he kissed her she felt shock hit her for a second time. She returned his kiss slowly, allowing herself to relax a bit she placed a hand on his jaw, finding herself becoming bolder she pressed into the kiss and let her hand slide into his soft hair.

Andrew felt Lyra relax into his kiss. Her touch first on his jaw and then moving to his hair sent a ripple of a chill through him. She had almost an electric feeling to her touch. He placed his other hand on her opposite jaw, cupping her face gently. Andrew slowly broke the kiss and kissed each of her cheeks. "See? You're a natural," he said with a light laugh and a wink.

She laughed and ruffled his hair before picking her cane up so she could continue to walk beside him "So..i guess this is a date huh?"

Andrew laughed as Lyra messed up his hair. As she picked up her cane, he ran his fingers through it, getting it back into place. They began heading towards Hogsmeade once again when Lyra asked about the status of their outing. With a chuckle Andrew answered her, "Yeah.... I guess so. Well, Unless you want to keep it a friend date." He looked over at her and smiled.

She giggled lightly at his words as they entered into Hogsmeade "Where do you want to go first?" she asked as she ran a hand through her hair "Are you planning to get gifts for anyone?"

Andrew really hadn't given gifts much thought, really. As they entered Hogsmeade, he figured that he should get something for Lyra. And, realistically, he should look into things for his family, too. "Wherever you'd like to go is fine with me. I can shop for my brothers and others wherever. What are you planning to get for our sister and..... Morgan, is it?" he asked.

She smiled he was so kind to her "well belledona is the flying instructor maybe a warm cloak to wear while flying this winter" she mused "morgan I'm not sure i need to think on the go about her, oh and belle has a long time boyfriend thaine i should probably get him something too considering he'll more then likely be my brother soon"

"Your brother? He is planning to ask the big question soon, then?" Andrew asked. He had heard about the new flying professor and was sorry that he wasn't going to get the chance to attend her lessons. But, given that she was Lyra's sister, it was likely that in time their paths would cross. "I think a winter cloak would be a great gift. You could get one specially tailored for her needs as a flight teacher. What do you have in mine for Thane?" he asked as they began to pass by the assorted shops.

"Well he's been making hints at it for ages I think its going to happen, i've yet to interogate him though" she said with a giggle "i've never flyed or played quidditch so its good your along you can help me" she winked at him as she opened the door to the tailor shop. The stepps magically turned into a ramp into the store. "I should get something for molly and the twins as well..." she mused

Andrew laughed at her comments about interrogating Thane. "Well, if he's planning to pop the question soon, you best make sure he is worthy of your sister," he teased as they entered the tailor shop. He looked around at the familiar shop. Andrew had come here several times when he needed his Quidditch uniform fixed up. "Mr. Wood, haven't seen you in some time!" the shop keeper greeted him as they entered. "It's good to see you out and about, my lad. What can I help you with?" he asked as he came out from behind the counter. Andrew nodded and smiled. "Well, my....good friend, Lyra," he said slowly, looking at her and smiling softly, "is looking for a winter cloak for her sister for Christmas. She is the new Flying Professor at Hogwarts, and I mentioned that you do great work on cloaks specifically for fliers. Could you help her?" Andrew asked with a wink. The shop keeper, looked from Andrew to Lyra and back with a grin. "It would be an honor. Tell me, Miss Lyra, what kind of cloak are you looking for?" he asked, taking her hand and linking it through his arm as he escorted her to the back where the vast collection of cloaks hung. Andrew smiled and followed.

"Her favorite colour...is green but it may be to bright for flying" she mused "perhaps black with green trim" she touched the cloaks appreciating there feel more then appearence.

The shop keeper nodded and thumbed through the racks of cloaks. He pulled out a few of different designs and hung them. Andrew watched as Lyra felt the cloaks over seeing them. He wheeled over to her and told her about the ones the man had selected. "These are all wool, perfect for winter flying. The first is a looser fit and a longer cut which would suit someone who might fly on occasion and for shorter distances. This one," he put into her hand, "has the same fit but a shorter cut. Great for long distances on a broom as there is less to trail behind." As he slipped the third into her hand, his fingers lingered on hers for a moment. With a smile, he told her, "This one, has a tighter fit. Excellent for those who favor flight to other means of getting around. The cut is a little longer than the second one, but not as long as the first." The shop keeper nodded as Andrew looked at him to be sure he got them all right. "They are all simply black at the moment, but in no time at all we can get green trim added to the cloak you pick, if you like," the man said.

Andrew smiled. "That's what I would have picked," he said softly to her. Nodding to the shop keeper that the third was Lyra's pick, he smiled. "A fine selection, ma'am. Now, you say you'd like it trimmed in green? Any other embellishments?" he asked her. Andrew wheeled himself back as he just looked at her. He wanted to get her something nice for Christmas, he decided. A smile touched his lips and he thought he figured out just want to get her.

"Yes please she's from slytherin house i think it would suit her nicely" she said smiling at the clerk. As the clerk hurried away with a shouted message that it shall be ready by next week she turned to Andrew "thank you for your help on that, Oh! i do wonder..." she pondered something for a moment before taking his hand "Come now i have someone i want to introduce you too!"she said pulling him towards the door.

"You're most welcome, Lyra," Andrew said to her happily. As she grabbed his hand and pulled her toward the door, he wheeled himself to help her in pulling him along and steering his chair. "Where are we going?" he asked her lightly.

She led the way to the quidditch shop and pushed the doors open. A loud bang could be heard from the workshop in the back as she called out "Gideon!"

A red haired man stepped out from the workshop covered in woodchips and dust "Lyra! you've not been working in weeks how are you love?" she smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek "I'm doing okay...Gideon this is my friend Andrew Wood, Andrew this is my cousin Gideon Prewett, you might know his sister Molly Prewett"
