Azaria listened as Jocelyn introduced her to her brother. She felt so terrible listening to her worry about her brother. She stood by her side and did her best to comfort her. She brushed Jocelyn's hair back down where she hit her head. "Are you sure you're alright?" She asked nervously.

The deputy headmistress silenced the crowd and called forth the next champion "CIAN DAWSON"

As he entered the arena the barrier slammed tot he floor around him and the mirror immediately began to glow, from its depths a bleeding hand emerged and grasped the frame.

Heaving himself from the depths was a burnt and bloodied Cian, his scarred body caused him to smirk. Suddenly he shape shifted into a normal version of him accept now he held in his arms a thirteen year old girl.

Cian moved in front of the mirror and, clenching his jaw, waited for his task to begin. The barrier slammed around him, and he took a deep breath, keeping his cool. When the mirror glowed and a bloodied, burned version of himself stepped threw, Cian began to remember a flicker of a memory, but pushed it away. He needed all his focus to beat this task. Suddenly the mirror image of himself shifted to an unmarred version of himself. Cian's jaw clenched tighter as he saw the body of a young girl in his arms.

He didn't know her, but there was something that told him he actually did. There was suddenly a knot in his stomach and a heaviness in his heart. He knew her without knowing her. "So you are the other me, huh? Let's dance shall we?" he said evenly to his mirror. As he drew his wand, Cian asked, "Who do you hold in your arms?"

Kage stroked the little girl's hair and looked up at him "Its melanie" he said his soft brogue sounding like a gruff lullaby "she misses you" he let the girl down and she woke from her slumber, blinking she looked up at Cian, then with a horrorfied scream she scrambled away.

It's Melanie.... Cian's jaw went slack. As the girl was set down and woke from her sleep, Cian stared into the same brown eyes he had, into the face that he suddenly knew. When she screamed and tried to get away, Cian shook his head and glared at Kage Cian. "That's impossible.... Melanie never saw her second year," he growled, his accent becoming thick and heavy as his grip tightened on his wand.

Cian's features softened as he heard the girl address him. She had a voice that he imagined she might have had when she grew older, but that wasn't to be. His mind tried to tell him that she wasn't real, but she was standing right there in front of him, clear as day! "I am Cian..." he said in a soothing tone to the girl who looked on him with fear. His brown eyes were still bouncing between his mirror self and the girl, hard and cold as ice.

Morgan let out a sigh of relief. Luna had made it, however mind numbing, through her task. She didn't have any time at all to recover when Cian was called to face his mirror self. Morgan didn't know much about him, but imagined that if his real self was as kind and gentle as he was, his mirror self could be a real monster. "You can do it Cian," she whispered to herself as his mirrored self stepped out of the mirror holding a young teen.

Without thinking, Cian dropped to one knee, keeping his wand in his hand, and took her hand. It was real, she was real. He could touch her. Cian closed his eyes and shook his head. "No, Melanie.... You did," he said softly to her.

Jocelyn nodded and heard that the headmistress announced that it was Cian's turn. Jocelyn looked at her brother and Azaria. "I have to go, i have to be there for him, i'll be okay." Jocelyn stumbled a little bit but walked into the arena and sat down near the exit and looked at Cian and his mirror version, there was a little girl but older than her. Who was that girl? Jocelyn thought as she concentrated on Cian.

Azaria nodded and followed Jocelyn back into the arena. They sat down just as Cian's task was beginning. She wondered who the little girl his mirror self was holding was. She had never seen her face before, but it was obvious Cian knew her. She looked up at Jocelyn, and by the look on her face she was just as confused as Azaria was. She watched silently, knowing that there were no words that could comfort her at the moment.

Kage Cian knelt behind the girl, his hands caressing her cheek, suddenly he grabbed her chin in his one hand and braced the other side of her head, with a viscisous twist he snapped the girls neck and threw her on Cian "You could never save her you pathetic piece of shit"

Cian watched as his mirror self walked behind her and put his hands gently on her neck. "Don't...." he said just a moment before he watched and heard her head twist and her neck snap. His brown eyes grew wide as her lifeless body was flung on top of him. "NO!" he yelled, tears welling in his eyes but not falling. His vision went red as his self-discipline and self-control cracked. Gently, swiftly, he placed Melanie's body on the ground. A moment later, he was on his feet, his ebony wand touching his mirror self's chest. "You bastard! You could have let her live! You could have saved her!" he yelled, not at the mirror of himself, but at himself, the real Cian. "REDUCTO!" Cian shouted, shaking with anger. The blast from his wand went like a bullet through the mirror of himself.

The mirror's chest exploded as if shot by a rifle, Kage Cian was blown back into the mirror, as the mirror of Cian's sister faded away.

The barrier lifted releasing the boy from the arena.

Cian watched as the mirror of himself was blasted into the mirror. He turned, dropped his wand, and ran to the lifeless body of Melanie. He gently lifted her form into his arms as he knelt and leaned back on his heels. Cian looked into her face and closed her eyes before cradling her against him. Gently he began to rock and the welled tears in his deep brown eyes cascaded down his cheeks as he put his face against her hair. Gradually, the form vanished. Soon Cian was sitting alone, holding nothing but air. He wrapped his arms around himself, put a hand to his face, and sobbed as the barrier lifted around him.

Jocelyn looked how the other Cian in the mirror held onto the girl and then snapped her neck yelling at Cian. Jocelyn was shocked and tears streamed down her cheeks as she saw Cian crying. Then Cian blasted the mirror and Jocelyn widened her eyes. She stood up running her hands through her hair. When the barrier was lifted Jocelyn ran into the arena and she let herself fall down in front of Cian, she carefully placed her hand on his hand who was covering his face. "C..Cian, baby?" Jocelyn didn't know what to do, she never saw him like that ever, he was the strongest boy she ever met. Jocelyn hugged him kissing his forehead, leaning with her own head on his. "It's okay Cian, it's okay."

Morgan watched in stunned silence as Cian reacted with the mirror image of himself and the girl. When he broke, she knew this was more than just some girl to him. She had never seen, Cian react this way about anything. He was the most stable, well grounded person she'd ever met. She couldn't take any more...

Morgan got up and ran to the are where the champions were. She would check on Cian later as he seemed to be in good hands with Jocelyn. Morgan stopped first by Sirius. She smiled at the boys around him and then placed a hand on Sirius' shoulder. "Sirius? Are you alright?" she asked. A foolish question, but she asked it anyways.

Cian was lost in his memories, lost in the darkness that the task had just created for him. He blamed himself for his sister's death, and now the guilt was just too heavy. He knew that the mirror only showed possible oher outcomes. He knew that Melanie was gone and the girl he saw wasn't real. But.... It was so real! He held her, held her body...

As he cried, not caring who saw, he heard a voice and felt a gentle touch on the hand covering his face. When he looked up, he saw his girlfriend. When she kissed his forehead and pulled him into her arms, he gently put his arms around her and held her tightly. Jocelyn was real... "Don't you vanish, too," he murmured to her.

Sirius understood Luna wasn't too comfortable. James didn't really like her. And neither did Peter. But they let her be there. Sirius liked her a lot, and they knew so. He pulled her to him slightly, kissing her cheek. "We'll be alright..."

He pulled back, smiling at her, with a wink, as he felt a hand fall on his shoulder. Sirius didn't smile, but nodded. "I'm not, but I will be." he responded, as James patted his back. In the end, he succeeded in his task. Even if he felt like he had KILLED her again. It was a disgusting feeling, but having his friends by his side was good. Better than nothing.

Morgan gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze. A kind of reassurance that she was there should he need her. Her eyes drifted to Luna and she went to her, hugging her tightly. "Thank Merlin it's over. This task anyways..." she said to her.

Luna rests her head on Sirius' shoulder after he kisses her cheek and pulls away, she nods. ''That we will be...'' She looks up to see Morgan and a small smile forms on her face. She shoves Sirius slightly due to the wink but then slides her hand into his, lacing their fingers like brother and sister. She was sad for him and was there for him every step of the way because she cared so much for him. ''Hello Morgan..'' She said softly and looks at Sirius with concern and worry. She feels Morgan's arms wrap around her and her tense body visibly relaxes as the familiarity of her friend comforted her. ''The next task...then it's over. It's all over...But then we are left to think.'' She sighs.

Jocelyn was being hugged tightly and as Cian murmered the words she looked confused at first. What did he mean by that? Jocelyn shook the thoughts away thinking it was not a question for now maybe later. Jocelyn pulled out of his hug and cupped his face in her two hands and looked at him, wiping away the remaining tears. "I'm not going anywhere so no i'm not going to vanish." She leaned into him and kissed him.

Cian felt Jocelyn pull out of the hug. He looked at her as she held his face in her soft hands and dried his tears. He managed a small crooked smile for her as he heard what his heart needed to hear come from her: she wasn't vanishing, leaving. As she kissed him, he put his hands on her waist and kissed her in return. When the kiss ended, he gently touched her cheek and said, "I love you, Lassy." Inside he was cross with himself for letting the task get the better of him. But, that was the point. That blasted mirror knew what to do to strike the right chord with all of them to cause them to break. But, still... "I'm sorry you had to see that...." he said softly to her, his eyes filled with sorrow.

Jocelyn smiled. "I love you too and don't be sorry Cian, at least you didn't hurt my brother. Luna's task was the hardest for me but i never saw you cry so i cried with you." Jocelyn looked around and then back at Cian. "You need to rest come to the place for champions." Jocelyn helped him up.

Cian chuckled lightly, "I donna' cry often, so savor it while you can." He let her help him up and took her hand as they walked to the champion's area. He nodded to the group around Sirius and spoke to him, "Well done." He would have said it sooner, but Cian had been trying to focus on the task at hand. Cian took a seat on his bed and just held his head in his hands, propped on his knees. He knew Jocelyn was still there, but he just needed a few moments to collect his thoughts.

Azaria watched the rest of the task silently, unable to find any words to say. Jocelyn ran down to Cian afterwards, but she stayed behind. She didn't feel that it was her place to follow her, but she was glad to see Cian make it through the task. She knew that it was hard on him, though she couldn't help but wonder who the girl was. Azaria looked down at her hands, which now had marks on them where she had dug the nails into her skin. She looked around, but didn't see any familiar faces, so she just sat there.
