Lavender smiled as Luna joined her on the ground, not overly worries that Luna had bested her. She was a very good opponent to lose against, and Lavender knew for next time not to let herself forget what she was supposed to be doing. Getting to her feet, she held out a hand to help the Ravenclaw to her feet. “I think that everyone underestimates you, Luna,” she said, looking around at the other duels that were going on around them, “it’s their mistake... What should be do now?”

Violet shot a grin back at David before turning back just in time to see her spells bounce off Harry's shield. Cursing softly under her breath, she readied herself for his attack, keeping her wand steady and pointed at him, her own "Protego" already on her lips. Unfortunately, like some of the older students, the Gryffindor was capable of nonverbal magic and Violet had no idea what she was going to face.

Only seeing the spells heading towards her, she quickly shot off a Stupefy at Harry and then let herself drop to the ground, rolling over the grass with a hex heading straight over her head. Left and right from her the ground exploded and she was showered with mud and little rocks. Stumbling back to her feet, Violet was thrown back by a flippendo which made her crash to the ground several yards away. With a groan, she pushed herself up just in time to see another spell head her way and this time she did cast her Protego. Panting, Violet pushed herself to her feet and shot a defiant grin at the Gryffindor. "Next round, Mr. Potter?" she called over to where he was standing, trying to imitate her father's drawl.

Getting back to her feet, Luna smiled warmly at the other girl and chuckled a bit. “Yes that does happen occasionally, but especially in times like these it helps.” She agreed and dusted off her robes. All around them, students were dueling each other and it pleased her to see them working so hard even if they were way too few to have a chance against Voldemort’s army of Death Eaters. Spotting a girl who did not have anyone to train with, she nodded in her direction. “Let’s ask Chase if she would like to duel one of us.” She suggested.

Noticing the other girl’s reaction to the arrival of the chosen one, Tatsu had to smirk slightly at the Gryffindor. “Aww, Granger … don’t let the guy distract you. I didn’t think you’d go for the popular ones.” She teased Hermione, her eyes sparkling mischievously as she blocked the approaching spell, quickly countering with a Everte Statum.

Neville had known that his friend wouldn’t let him win the duel that quickly and Mio was always good for a surprise move and faster than he would have thought, he found himself pinned to the ground by the other Gryffindor. Feeling a wand poke into his stomach, Neville had to react quickly. Grasping his own wand a little tighter, he created a shield between his body and his friend just as Mio cast the Stupefy. The force of both spells created such a strong powerfield that both of them were thrown apart. Neville crashed against a tree, but quickly got back to his feet, his wand trained at the other lion at whom he cast nonverbal disarming spell, followed by an incarcerous. “Good move, Mio. Didn’t expect a physical attack from you.” He called over to his friend.

The blast of his spell meeting Neville’s shield threw Mio backwards and instinctually, he transfigured into his animagi form, twisted in the air and landed on four strong paws, a few feet away from his friend. Speeding towards Neville, he easily sidestepped the spells he threw at him and jumped straight at him, tackling him to the ground again, one paw pressing down on Neville’s wand, as his jaws closed around his friend’s throat with a growl, but only lightly, not even enough to leave imprints of his teeth. Then he pulled back and turned into his human form again, his wand pointed at the other Gryffindor.
“Always expect the unexpected, my friend.” Mio gave back, smirking at Neville as he a stunning hex directed exactly at him.

Neville cussed and pointed his wand at the leopard that was racing towards him, firing hex after hex at the large animal, but none of them found their target and he was tackled to the ground. With a grunt, all air left his lungs and he had to hold himself still so his throat would not be ripped open by sharp teeth. At last Mio pulled back and as he transfigured, Neville raised a shield at the last possible moment which reflected the other’s spell back at him. “And resilience pays off, my dear Mio.” He gave back good-naturedly, rising to his feet with a smile. "Never think you've won till your oponent is actually knocked out or dead."

For a few seconds, Ian felt inclined to push Astoria a bit more for answers, but then he realized that it was hardly the time or place to have such a conversation and so he decided to go along with her for now and stop pressuring her. Still, he was going to keep a closer eye on the Slytherin from now on to make sure, she wasn’t hurt again. It sucked that the death Eaters basically could do whatever they wanted without having to fear punishment, but there was nothing they could do about it.

When she kissed him, it completely wiped his mind blank for a moment and Ian even forgot to kiss her back, so by the time he realized what she had just done, Astoria was already holding out her wand, ready to duel him. Biting his lips, he held his breath, otherwise, he’d tell her that he much rather would do something completely different, but not with the audience around them. “Alright … let’s duel and don’t always think so lowly of yourself, Astoria. You really are a powerful witch if you just believe in yourself.” He told her honestly, taking her hand to lead her towards an area where they had enough space to practice. Bowing slightly, Ian gave her hand a squeeze and then took a few steps backwards, raising his wand at her. “When you are ready … “

The Slytherin knew that Ian wanted to know more, but she wasn't the type to tell on people. She liked to believe that she could handle her own, especially within her own house. She was still coming to terms with Lilith's betrayal, so that didn't help either. Like with her family, she knew that their friendship was irreparable, but she wouldn't sell the girl out.

Astoria allowed Ian to lead her further into the clearing. She was a little nervous, as she had not really used magic with her weaker hand yet and she was sure that she would be out of the duel within a moment. Rolling her eyes in good nature, she said, "we both know that I would beat you easily if I could use my proper hand." She was joking, of course, but she wanted to lighten to mood. She would need to return to the hospital wing after their trading so she wanted to make the most of it. Smiling softly, she took a few steps back and raised her wand again, her aim not nearly as good as usual, but it would suffice. She didn't respond to him with words, but instead a fast stinging hex followed by an Expelliarmus.

Ian grinned back at the Slytherin, quickly falling back into his usual easy-going manner as he wiggled his eye brows. “Oh yeah? Well, let’s make it fair then.” He gave back and switched his wand to his other hand, grimacing slightly at the weird feeling. “Urg … that’s just awful, but you never know when you might need that skill…” he muttered under his breath. Still, if she could do it, so could he! Ready for the duel, Ian looked back at Astoria and nodded, showing that he too was ready to begin. She didn’t waste any time and Ian quickly had to raise his wand as her first spell approached, but the angle was just too awkward, so he just threw himself to the side to evade the hexes. “Merlin! This is harder than I thought.” he admitted, only slowly getting used to his new wand hand. “Rictusempra!” he called out, sending the spell towards her.

Astoria grinned as he swapped his wand into his own weaker hand and she couldn't help but think it was something entirely Ian. While she knew that he was the stronger dueler, she thought that she may actually have a chance. "You realise I have been doing with my other hand for a while now," she said, a cheeky smile on her lips, "I think I have an advantage now." And she did, because although she couldn't cast a steady shield, she was able to get up something that resembles one and was able to reflect the Rictusemptra, though it's angle meant that she, too, had to move out of the way after it reflected from her own shield toward her. "You get used to it," she said, "Stupefy! Petrificus Totalus!" She hoped that her rapid spells would mean at least one of them would get close to their mark, because no matter how much she aimed it was still slightly off.

Ian pouted and shot a playful glare at her. “Hey don’t try to demotivate me, that’s not fair!” he called over to her when she told him that she had more practice already. He was actually enjoying himself a lot, even though it felt completely weird to do anything with his left hand, especially something like intricate wand movements. So he decided to stick to the easier ones. Swishing and flicking. Before he could cast is next spell though, he was thrown back by one of her spells with another sailing right over his head. Shaking his head to cast off dizziness, Ian pushed to his feet and cast wingardium leviosa on Astoria’s clothes to lift her up.

Astoria's laughter left her lips before she could stop it, but the pout on Ian's was hopelessly adorable and she couldn't help it. "It's the only reason I have a chance," she replied, the light tone still in her voice. If it were any other way, Ian would have her incapacitated within a few minutes, she knew. She'd done reasonably well during the battle, but she suspected that adrenaline had more to do with that than actual skill. Astoria grinned when the Stupefy actually hit its mark, but didn't fail to notice that it didn't exactly do what it was supposed to. It had thrown Ian off his feet, but had not rendered him unconscious, even for a moment. Still, she was rather pleased, which stupidly distracted her from his rebuttal, which instantly lifted her into the air. After a moment, she managed to catch her bearings, and broke the connection with a shield charm. "Expelliarmus!" she tried again, before erecting a Protego in preparation for his next move.
