Harper Selwyn- Character Application

I confirm that I have filled all fields with an asterisk (*) located on my profile on the "Profile" Tab.: Yes

I confirm that I filled my character sheet located on my profile: Yes

In case you are a student, which school?: ---

In case you are an adult, what was your house at school?: Ravenclaw

Example Role-play: Oh, now this was funny.

Harper leaned back in his chair, a vaguely amused smile spreading across his features as he read the bight purple memo in his hand. Interdepartmental memos were an almost expected annoyance in the dark-haired man's life ever since he had taken up the mantle of departmental head, though it was one he had quickly come to grow used to. Most were nonsense. Nearly all were boring. Too many people thinking they had more authority over Harper and his people. Too many requests for meetings, information, dry notifications in policy changes... all of which he ignored.

And then there was the rare treasure like this.

Harper had read it once, twice. Now the man was reading it a third time, and the vague, amused smile slowly spread, breaking into a grin. Oh, you silly old man. Dear father, still trying to pull the strings. Still trying to lord over your son. Patrick Selwyn had always been an ambitious man, always been a proud man; he had every reason and right to be. But sometimes his pride spilled over into arrogance, and sometimes the ambitious old codger forgot his place. To think, sending a memo demanding a meeting with his son, demanding special rights and privileges in order to advance his career (or, Harper guessed, one of his own siblings'). It was clear, it was transparent, and if he was trying to be subtle about it, he had done a wondrously poor job.

Ah, family. Harper had to wonder, would his father make such demands of other departmental heads? Possibly. He had seniority and authority within the Department of Law Enforcement, after all-- something he never failed to mention. Repeatedly. Most people would have been irritated or scandalized at this. One of the few non-secrets of the Department of Mysteries was that they operated almost completely under their own authority. Patrick Selwyn had no right to make such demands of his son... and a son who technically outranked him in the grand structure of things, at that. By all rights, Harper had every right to be as annoyed or angry as he wished to be.

Instead, the man just quietly laughed. This hadn't been the first time his father had tried something like this, and he knew well enough it wouldn't be the last.

Harper laid the unfolded memo on his neatly-organized desk with exaggerated care. He read the note over a fourth time, laughed again. Then he reached for his quill and a blank memo sheet. There was no hesitation as the dark-haired figure bent over his desk and scrawled out a single word in large, bold letters.

NO

With the same degree of care, Harper primly set aside the quill and neatly folded the lilac paper into the ever-familiar plane shape. His grin widened a fraction of an inch as he leaned back once again and then lazily tossed the plane towards his half-open office door. A whispered command followed, and the plane obediently glided out and away on its mission. Harper watched it go intently. Once it had been gone for several long moments, the wizard leaned back forward to his desk. His wand was delicately retrieved. Carefully pointed at his father's letter. A single word was whispered. From the tip of the wand, a single spark drifted down, caught the letter alight. It burned rapidly, leaving naught but a tiny pile of ash on the desk afterwards. Harper carelessly swept the ashes away, the grin still firmly affixed to his face.

Ah, what a lovely start to his day...
