Re: Potions Lesson

Abbadon smirked, nodding her head as she considered when the next best chance to talk to her brother would be. She didn't care too much about missing classes, so she would find him during the day sometime. "Hopefully it's something good," the blonde said, "I haven't been anywhere since I got back." Abbadon had spent a very long time being someone else, and so she missed the thrill and the blood more than she ever had before. "This well be able to catch him after Potions?" she asked, eyeing a nearby student, but not caring as she knew they wouldn't be able to hear her.

[Sithon Macnair]

Sithon had followed Violet through the dungeons to their next lesson. Potions was neither his favourite nor his most hated subject; he basically couldn’t care less, though he still tried to be on his best behavior for his friend’s sake. He nodded at Mio and the other Order Members and kept waiting with his friend. When they at last were allowed inside, he quickly pulled Violet with him to take their seats in one of the darker parts of the room.

[Violet Snape]

Violet took Sithon's hand and let him lead her inside, not even sparing her father a second glance. The less they interacted, the better, she thought and took a seat next to her friend. She pulled out her books, quill and ink and waited for the lesson to start.

Luna had been standing a little behind the other students, not happy to be anywhere near the potions master, but she did enjoy potions, especially when Snape pretended that she did not exist which luckily happened quite often. Then she could completely focus on her work and actually enjoy brewing. When they were ordered in, she followed the other students and took a seat in the back of the room, near the wall where she wasn't all that visible from the front.

[Nyx Mulciber]

Tatsu didn't want to spend any more time standing in the halls and so she motioned for Nyx to follow her into the classroom where they sat behind Sithon and Nyx. She had seen Snape had for Ian and his little friend, but she really did not want to get involved with their shit today.
Nyx took her brother's hand when they walked inside and pulled him along into the seat next to her. "Why must you always taunt the helpless ones? You need to take the bitchy girls like me." she whispered to him, snickering softly, uncaring if their professor would hear it or not.

[Thanatos Mulciber]

Thanatos shot a dark smirk over his shoulder at the two Hufflepuffs that would probably soon be dead. Hopefully Snape would actually start acting like a real Death Eater. The Carrows at least were often torturing students, but the potion’s master never seemed to bother with that and yet, he seemed to hate everyone but his Slytherins with a passion. Shrugging, he fell into the seat next to his sister and leaned back in his chair.

[Severus Snape]

With a sneer, Severus observed the gathered children, the surprise he felt at the number not showing on his face. He had not expected to see so many of the order members in his class, knowing about their hatred for him; not that he could blame them, Albus Dumbledore had been their mentor and leader, their protection and he had taken him from the world for good. Still, he felt no sympathy for the students, as he too had suffered from the headmaster’s order and he could not go easy on any of them; not with the Carrows and these many death eaters around.

As always, the Death Eater children walked right passed him without waiting to be called in and Severus had to use all his self-control not to snap at them for their insolence. They always thought that they owned the school, had been thinking that basically since they joined Hogwarts, but he knew that punishing them would only make them suspicious of his position, so he simply inclined his head in greeting to his snakes.

Turning to the rest of the students, Severus’ sneer became more pronounced. “Get inside, don’t make any noise and wait for further instructions. Everyone who is incapable of following these simple orders will serve detention with either me or Professor Carrow.” he warned them, his voice ringing with disgust, though if it was directed at the students or at his colleague was unclear.

The commotion around a younger Hufflepuff had not gone unnoticed and Severus slowly approached the small group, a predatory smile on his lips, while the other students filtered into the classroom.

[Ian Mortinson]

"It's okay, you won't die. I'll protect you, alright? Don't worry." Ian just put his arms around the younger boy and pulled him against his chest, turning his body so they were facing away from Snape with Mio and Neville shielding them from their view. He shot the girls that walked by an annoyed glare, but decided that talking with them was a waste of time.

[Neville Longbottom]

Neville swallowed hard when he noticed Snape looking in their direction and he quickly elbowed his friend in the side to get his attention which made Ian swirl around and release Darcy. "Be quiet and let me handle this." he whispered to the younger boy as he faced his teacher, trying to stand in front of Darcy. Ian’s heart was pounding hard in his chest, though he tried not to show his fear in front of the man. Neville stood up a little straighter to not let himself be cowed by Snape again, though the dark man still held this intimidating aura that made it hard for Neville not to back down. "Professor." he greeted, his voice sounding cold even to his own ears, but he hated the man, so who could blame him.

[Endymion Snape]

Mio stood slightly behind Ian and Neville, narrowing his eyes at his father over their shoulders. He knew that expression and it did not bode well for the Hufflepuffs, but he also did not want to step up against his father is he could prevent it. In the heat of the moment, he might spill something he was not allowed to talk about, so he exchanged a glance with Neville, knowing that his friend could handle it before sneaking passed the others into the classroom where he sat in the back, reserving seats for his friends.

[Darcy Culkin]

He looked up at Ian with fear in his eyes as he got pushed into the other's chest. Shortly after, the Hufflepuff got released from the grip, and his heart began to beat harder than it was earlier. Darcy realized how the two were acting and nervously crossed his arms and decided to try and hide his fear around the professor. Hopefully he could handle it...

[Severus Snape]

It was almost laughable how the two young men tried to seem strong and confident when he could see in their eyes that they would rather run than face him. He had enough experience with people like that; especially in his early years as a death eater, he had often made people cower in front of him in fear and mostly the men pretended not to be cowed if their wives and children were around, but Severus had learned to read even the slightest flicker in their eyes. Fear was like a brightness that took over them that no one could hide. Occlumency helped a lot to shield such emotions, but only few were capable of completely closing off their mind.

Towering over the three students, Severus sneered down at them, looking over his nose at each of the older boys, before focusing on the younger one. “Now, now, Mister Culkin, scared, are we?” he taunted the child, chuckling darkly at the frightened boy. His attempt at hiding his fear was even more abysmal than Mortinson’s. Only Longbottom finally seemed to have grown a spine, but not enough to take on someone like him. “I wonder why you are this terrified … you’re not up to something, are you?” he smirked sardonically.

[Neville Longbottom]

Neville grit his teeth at Snape’s taunting, trying to hold himself back from just hitting the man straight in the face for his actions. Why couldn’t he just leave the poor boy alone, wasn’t he already scared enough? His usually warm brown eyes narrowed and he took a step forward, to stand slightly in front of the Hufflepuff. He had grown in the past few years and was now easily as tall as his Professor and would no longer let him cow him into submission. Still, no need to enrage the man enough to start cursing them because, even after years of training, Neville was quite sure that he couldn’t easily take Snape on in a duel. “We’re sorry, Sir.” He managed to get out, sounding calm and apologetic although he wanted to punch him in the face. “He will be quiet now, he was just scared and nervous.” Neville tried to make the older man back off.

[Elysium Kade]

Elysium entered the classroom watching the interactions with a faint interest, having seen pretty much the same thing since the school unfroze. She toyed with her quill, resting the tip against her pink lips and shot a twisted smile towards the terrified boy before taking a moment to admire their bravery. Even if it was stupid. With a final glance, she went onto preparing her desk with quick, focused movements and made sure that if any one did make the false move of sitting beside her, they'd have enough space so they did not touch.

[Severus Snape]

Severus’ dark eyes moved over Ian’s and Darcy’s faces before settling on Neville’s, narrowing dangerously as he spoke up for the younger Hufflepuff student. His smirk twisted into a condescending sneer and he bent forward to stare right at the audacious youth. “Mr. Longbottom … “ he drawled in a silken voice, “… I think I made it quite clear that I addressed Mr. Culkin here and I can’t remember giving you permission to speak up for him. Now, while I do know that Hufflepuffs are not known for their intelligence, I’m still quite sure that he would have been capable of answering my questions on his own.” For a moment, Severus paused as if he was considering his next steps, then his smirk was back in place and his eyes were gleaming maliciously. “That will be 10 points off Gryffindor and a detention with me. Tonight. We shall see who will be brainless enough to follow you, Longbottom, now get your whiny little friends inside.” He snapped at the Gryffindor and marched into his classroom to stand in front of the now gathered class.

“As you know, the Dark Lord was gracious enough to allow even those that are unworthy of his mercy to reenter Hogwarts to finish their education.” Severus started his lesson, though he had to force himself not to snort at his own words. Control was all that Voldemort wanted over those that he had defeated and that was the only reason why many students that had fought against him were now here at Hogwarts, always under the watchful eye of young Death Eaters. Just seeing the superior expressions on some of their faces made Severus want to curse them all into oblivion, but he had to remain true to his role and so he continued on with his lecture.

“You better make sure to remember that you are only here because of the Dark Lord‘s mercy. I have no doubt that most of you are lacking the intelligence and skill to brew the potions I will assign this year, but if I find any of you little brats slacking off in my class, I will make sure that you are very, very sorry.” He snarled, glaring hard at all of those that were loyal to the Order. “To the select few that deserve their place here … you will find this lesson to be challenging, so you will do good to keep your concentration on your own potion. Now, team up in pairs and start on the potion. Instructions are on the board.” He waved his wand and his spidery script appeared on the blackboard under. “You have two hours to brew the Wiggenweld Potion. Begin!”

[Thanatos Mulciber]

Thanatos snickered loudly at his teacher's speech, shooting provoking smirks at some of the other students. This lesson would be good, he thought maliciously. Hopefully many of the stupid Gryffindors would act out of place as they usually did. Turning to his sister, he told her to put up the cauldron while he went to the storeroom to get the ingredients they would need.

[Nyx Mulciber]

Nyx hit her brother's side with her elbow to make him shut up, although she had enjoyed Snape's little speech as well. It was always entertaining to see the mudbloods get dressed down a bit and yet, she understood the subtle warning not to act out in the potion master's class, so she quickly started to set up their workplace, while her brother got the ingredients from the storeroom.

[Violet Snape]

Violet sighed quietly and tried to vanish behind her books as her father started to lecture the class in his usual snide tones. She felt horribly caught between her friends that all were shooting glares at their teacher and her loyalty towards the man and so she tried to just hide and stay unnoticed during the lesson. Glancing at Sithon, she leaned over and whispered in his ear: “I’ll get what we need, please put up the cauldron okay?” Then she got up and hurried towards the storeroom.

[Ian Mortinson]

Ian bit his lip and lowered his head so that Snape wouldn’t be able to see his glare which he wanted to direct at the man. How could a man be so horrible and have such great children? They must take all after their mother, he thought, quickly grabbing Darcy’s sleeve to pull him into the classroom before they could get into any more trouble. As he passed Neville, he whispered a “Sorry” at him, after all it was their fault that the Gryffindor was now in detention. Sitting down next to Mio, he shot his friend a long-suffering glance before turning to Darcy. “Come on, let’s start on the potion, will you get the ingredients?” he asked in a very quiet voice, so he wouldn’t give Snape any more chance to dress them down.

[Neville Longbottom]

When Snape was finally finished with his taunting, Neville walked after him into the classroom without another word. He shook his head at Ian, as he wasn’t mad at his friend. It had been his own decision to step in and now he would deal with the consequences. He had a few detentions with the man last year already, he would survive another one as well. Looking around, he spotted a familiar Slytherin and couldn’t help but smile slightly as he walked up to her table where he dropped into the seat next to her. “Enjoyed the show?” Neville asked Elysium quietly, as probably everyone had witnessed the little encounter between Snape and his friends.

[Tatsu Savage]

Tatsu rolled her eyes at her two friends, though she felt slightly annoyed that now she didn’t have anyone to work with. Still, she got the required ingredients and moved to an empty table, looking around for someone who might want to work with her.

Luna was staring blankly at their professor, as if she was trying to read his mind, but she just was listening intently to his words feeling somewhat intimidated by Snape’s threat of making them sorry. It made her remember her detention with Professor Carrow and she shuddered involuntarily in reaction, for a moment lost in her memories of that day.

[Darcy Culkin]

"N-nuh-no, sir... I don't even have the mental capabilities," Darcy answered looking at him straight in the eyes trying to improve his foolish attempt on being brave. "Sorry if I disrupted anything, professor..."

Darcy had to respond in some way despite Neville's very poor try at speaking for him. Not wanting to be hexed into who knows what, he shut his mouth and began listening to Snape's lecture deciding to just stay in his lane.

Looking around, he began trying to find somebody to work with. When Ian told him to get some ingredients, he was a bit shocked, but Darcy chose to not show it and went of to find the ingredients. is this what it was like to have friends, well one friend at least? The Hufflepuff gathered the ingredients and took them to the table. "Here they are."
