"Mum, where's my letter?" Leia Diamante asked her mother as she looked on the dark mahogany bookshelf for what seemed to be the millionth time.
"I have no idea where you put it, Leia." Isabelle Diamanti said, watching her daughter from where she sat. "Perhaps it's best that you don't find it. There's no point in going to that ridiculous school to begin with."
"Hogwarts is not ridiculous." came Leia's irked reply as she turned to glare at her mother. "Dad went there....Uncle Dax went there....now I'm going to go there, and you won't stop me."
The older woman stood up and moved over to her daughter. "I will not be spoken to like that, Leia Elise. Your name's already down for Eton, and that is where you will be going. Forget about this freak talent of yours...magic tricks don't pay the bills."
"I AM GOING TO HOGWARTS, MOTHER!" shouted Leia. "How you and Dad stay married day in and day out is way beyond me! Is it his money, Mum? Hmm? Or is it the fact that every time you can't sleep, all you have to do is ask him to make a sleeping potion? That's a fine reason for marrying someone. You're just using him!"
Isabelle Diamanti stared at Leia, her cheeks turning slightly red. "How dare you? How dare you say this to me? You are not going to Hog-whatever the name is, do you understand me?"
"I think Dad might disagree with you." Leia said quietly, nodding toward the doorway, where Gerald Diamanti stood, a heavy frown on his face.
